Freeze Dried Food

Freeze dried food is thought to have been discovered by the ancient Incas of the Andes. Freeze dried food begins with the removal of water content from frozen food. The dehydration takes place under a vacuum and keeping the product frozen solid during this entire process. Freeze dried food lasts much longer than food preserved by other means and it is also very light. The most important aspect of freeze dried foods is that they maintain their nutrient content.

Susan asks…

Any idea where I can buy the Military MRE meals?

I’m wanting to buy the same type of military mre that people get from the army when there’s tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes and such?

Chris answers:

Sure, you can get military meals ready to eat here. You can also try eBay. Sometimes you’ll find a good deal. You can also get them at the Army Surplus store but the cost is the same as I have them for.

Charles asks…

How will I get Military MRE’s once I enlist?

I’ve just joined the Army and will be starting boot camp in about 2 weeks and was wondering how I get my military mre rations?

Seth answers:

You don’t have to purchase your own meals ready to eat. You’ll be issued military mre food when you’re in training or combat. You can buy some online if you wish, I have them here. We also have the newer First Strike rations on the link I provided as well.

Carol asks…

Which do you like better military mre food or civilian mre?

My brother says there’s a huge difference in the taste as well as the food choices. He likes the civilian better.

Seth answers:

I don’t know how old your brother is but if he was in the service and had the sad experience of the C Rations, I can imagine he’d like anything better. The newer military mre’s are heads and shoulders better than the C rations. However, and this is just user preference my family likes the Sopakco the very best. Here it is at a really good price too. $10 off.

Sharon asks…

Is there any place I can go to get free military mre’s?

I really like taking MRE’s on camping and backpacking trips. They’re kind of expensive though. Every time I have to buy a case, I end up dropping about $60. I heard that people in the military can get as much as they want for free. Do you know of anyone in the military who can get them for me? I can pay for the shipping as long as it’s not crazy high.

Seth answers:

:-|

Let me correct you. Service men and women don’t get MRE’s for free. They get them as part of their job. Depending what they’re doing, maybe like in Afghanistan or something, the military (who is funded by the citizens of the US) pays for their meals instead of sending them out to a McDonalds or something.

Do you seriously think members of the service don’t pay for their food?

I’d assume that most of the decent tax payers welcome that a portion of their taxes goes to protecting our families and our freedom. I kind of doubt they’d feel the same way paying for your camping trip.

William asks…

I’d like to know if it’s possible to buy military MRE food if I’m not in the service?

Seth answers:

Sure you can. You can get it here. >> Depending on what you’re using it for. We use the Sopacko for emergency food storage and the First Strike when we’re hunting or hiking because they’re a little lighter.

Maria asks…

Are military mre’s even good for you at all? Like what about nutrient needs, calories, sodium and stuff ike that?

Also, how do they taste?

Seth answers:

They’re designed as survival food. They have enough calories to get a soldier through until his or her next meal.

Mark asks…

Where do I buy REAL Military MRE’s?

I can’t tell on your site which ones are civilian MRE’s and which ones, if any are military mre’s.

Seth answers:

On the right side of the page, click Military MRE’s.
